David
Faerber, LCEE Stock Market Game Coordinator, recently returned from
a 10-day study tour in South Africa conducted by the Council for Economic
Education in conjunction with U. S. Department of Education and the U. S.
Department of State. Faerber, along with 23 other educators from around the
country, were selected to meet with teachers, share ideas and experiences in
economic education, and observe South African educators creatively delivering
lessons in economics to students in elementary and secondary schools.
Participants learned about educational reforms, teacher training and lesson delivery
systems, curriculum and materials development, standards, and assessment in
South Africa and experienced many facets of the South African culture. He will
share his experiences with teachers at the Louisiana Council for the Social
Studies Annual Conference this fall and is available to speak to other groups upon
request.
